Conference on Public Policies in Latin America
The International Cooperation Agency (ACI) invites you to attend the conference called “Development Trends and Challenges for Public Policies in Latin America,” which will take place on April 18, on the occasion of the presentation of the Spanish edition of the study called “The Development Challenges in Latin America: Socio-Economic Circumstances and Public Policies,” by the Institut des Amériques (IdA), sponsored by the Agence Française de Développement (AFD). The conference will be hosted in the library of the Alianza Francesa de Buenos Aires (Av. Córdoba 946, 2° piso, CABA).
In this presentation, the authors, Carlos Quenan, PhD, Professor at IHEAL, University of Paris 3 Sorbonne Nouvelle and Vicepresident of IdA, and Sébastien Vélut, PhD, Director of IHEAL (Institute of Higher Education of Latin America, University of Paris 3 Sorbonne Nouvelle), will examine the great economic, demographic, social and environmental tendencies as well as the most prominent characteristics of the political systems in Latin America, a region that in recent years has been characterized by its dynamism and resilience to the world economic crisis. This analysis aims to understanding the great socio-economic challenges of Latin America, especially regarding growth consolidation, development of infrastructures, and reduction of inequalities, and to examine its consequences in order to draw up public policies in Latin American countries.
Marie-Christine Lemardeley, PhD, President of the University of Paris 3 Sorbonne Nouvelle, will be in charge of the introduction, and Florence Pinot, Headmaster of CELARE (Centre d'Etudes et de recherche Amérique latine - Europe, ESCP Europe), will moderate the debate. Martin Abeles, ECLAC, and Horacio Aguirre, Central Bank of Argentina (BCRA), will comment the paper, and Mrs. Marie-Christine Lemardeley, President of the University of Paris 3 Sorbonne Nouvelle will introduce the authors.
