Between 19 and 28 of September, the Secretary of Institutional Relations and Director of the International Cooperation Agency of the UNLP, Dr. Edgardo Nosetto, visited several study centers and official bodies of the People’s Republic of China, with the aim of developing closer links and establishing relationships to work together.
The first meeting was held by Mr. Xu Wenjing in the Hanban (Central Confucius Institute, Beijing). Later, in the Academy of Social Sciences of Beijing, Dr. Nosetto was received by the members of the Bureau of International Cooperation: Jia Li (Associate Professor, Deputy Director), Zhang Qiaozhi (Deputy Director) and Xu Qiong (Program Officer).
The subjects discussed were the following: probable areas of cooperation (Economy, Literature and Philosophy, Political and Social Studies, International Studies), different kinds of cooperation (joint cooperation, academic exchanges, organization of workshops and conferences), renewal of framework agreements and signing of specific agreements, and the presentation of the list of probable areas of cooperation.
Additionally, consideration was given to the possibility of economic cooperation and two work steps were set. The first one is the identification of cooperation areas up until the end of 2012, and the second step, undertaking activities in 2013. Moreover, it was laid down the possibility of a triangular cooperation between China, EEUU and Argentina.
The UNLP magazine was presented at the Argentine Embassy in Beijing. In this event, the Argentine Ambassador Gustavo Martino, Minister Guillermo Devoto, Cultural Attaché Santiago Martino and the journalist Néstor Restivo were present. Afterwards, Dr. Nosetto visited the XISU (International Studies University of Xi’An) in the city of Xi’An, attending a ceremonial event in the 60th anniversary of the XISU and giving a speech representing the UNLP. Then, he visited the facilities of the new university campus.
In the University of Soochow, in Sizhou, the representative of the UNLP had a meeting with the Director of the International Office Huang Xing. They addressed topics such as probable areas of cooperation, authorities visiting the UNLP next November and planning Spanish courses for Chinese students. After that, they took a walk through the facilities of the said Institute of Higher Studies. Last, Dr. Nosetto visited the Argentine Consulate in Shanghai, where he was received by the General Consulship Pedro Marota and Mr. Sergio Shao, from the Consular Office.
